CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Caring for your NuYarn© Merino

  • Do not soak or bleach
  • Machine washable
  • Do not dry clean

Merino wool is one of the most hard wearing fabrics, with a natural
stretch and breathe-ability that allows it to dissipate any moisture it
might absorb. HOwever, wool still requires some occasional care to keep it looking its best. Hereare some easy to follow maintenance rules to keep your merino wool clothing in optimum condition.

Only wash when needed

  • Hang garment to dry and air out between wearings.

Hand washing

  • Fill a wash basin, large enough to accommodate garment to be washed comfortably, with cold water and add wool washing detergent.
  • Submerge garment and swirl in water for 3-5 minutes.
  • Rinse clean in water that is the same temperature as wash water.
  • Squeeze out as much water as possible but do not wring or twist the garment.
  • Lay garment flat on a dry absorbent towel then roll the towel and press gently to remove excess water.
  • Shape stretch garment back to proper shape and size while still wet.
  • Dry away from direct sunlight.
  • You can also use a slow spin cycle on your washing machine to remove excess water.
  • When hand washing it is also possible to use a salad spinner to spin the excess water from the garment.

Machine washing

  • Turn garment inside out to wash and dry.
  • Wash dark colours separately.
  • Allow 5% shrinkage.
  • Use a gentle machine cycle with slow spin speeds using cold water.
  • Use only wool approved detergent on a gentle machine spin.
  • Do not use bleach, garment brighteners, or fabric softeners.
  • Do not soak or use any cleansing agents.
  • Shape garment to proper size and shape while still wet.
  • Dry away from direct sunlight.

Special notes for combination white/colour garments

  • For best results do not soak.
  • Wash with high water level.
  • If using machine ensure you have a full load.
  • Use wool detergent.
  • Do not leave wet.
  • Hand dry promptly after wash cycle finishes.
  • If you have a low water use front load machine, be sure to wash by
    hand for the first 10 washes with ample water to reduce risk of colour
    fade.
  • Colour catcher sheets can be used. Available from your local supermarket. These can help to prevent colour run.

Stain Removal

  • Remove any stains immediate.
  • To remove dtains you can use a litle mild wool wash to spot clean the effected area.
  • Wet the fabric thoroughly with cold water and gently stretch
    against a clean flat survace while gently brushing/foaming wool wash
    with a very soft tooth brush. Rinse and repeat until the stain
    disappears.

NOTE: Rubbing harshly in order to remove stains may cause pilling, deterioration and dis-colouration of the fabric.
